A Gold Coast Kitchen-Man... Kitchen, Bathroom & Laundry renovations at realistic prices.

Frequently Asked Questions...

Q. Can I keep my existing cabinets and just have new doors and bench tops?
A. Kitchen-Man will only get involved with full new kitchens. Replacing doors and bench tops will not save you much. The main cost in a new kitchen is not the cabinet carcase, but the doors and bench tops. And you will still need to allow for the costs of plumbing, electrical and tiling.

Q. How much does a new kitchen cost?                                                                                              A. If you ask a real estate valuer this question you will usually be advised that the the total kitchen value should fall between 5-8% of your property value. This applies to a typical 3/4 bedroom home on a normal sized block of land located in an average suburb. A budget of $16k - $26k for a complete kitchen renovation will allow better quality appliances and finishes such as 2Pac doors and stone bench tops.     It is possible to renovate a kitchen for under $12k if you re-use some appliances and choose more economical finishes such as melamine doors and laminate bench tops. The best way to find out is to have Kitchen-Man visit your project site and provide an estimate.

Q. Do you only do new kitchens?                                                                                                        A. Kitchen-Man specialises in complete new kitchen, bathroom and laundry renovations as well as cabinetry for robes, home office & study, vanities, bars... and more.

Q. How long will it take to renovate my kitchen.                                                                                  A. A simple laminate kitchen would normally take 4-5 weeks from ordering. If you choose a 2pac finish, add 2 weeks. Add a further two weeks each for stone bench tops and glass splash-backs. Most of the work for a kitchen is done in the factory with minimum inconvenience to your home life.

Q. How long will it take to renovate my bathroom/ensuite?                                                                 A. A typical bathroom or ensuite renovation will take 3-4 weeks from commencement to handover. Most of the work is done in the home, being labour-intensive with many trades involved.

Q. How much choice of materials and finishes do I have with Kitchen-Man?                                        A. Your choices are truly unlimited. If it's available, you can have it! Most kitchen and bathroom renovators only offer a limited range, and may even 'rubbish' things they don't sell... to make their product look better.

Q. Are store-bought computer kitchen design programs any good?
A. These programs can be somewhat time consuming to master, and they are very useful in helping you discover the best kitchen layout; but a good kitchen designer can do the same in ten minutes. Today’s kitchen designer uses a highly specialised CAD program which allows total accuracy and links directly to the manufacturer for costing and production. Far better to invest your time looking at materials and products for your new kitchen.

Q. Should I renovate all my bathrooms at the same time?                                                           A. Not always a good idea, unless you can: (a) Persuade a close relative or neighbour to allow you the use of their facilities, (b) hire a mobile ensuite for use during the renovation, (c) move out during the renovation, or, (d) 'Rough it'. If you don't want to any of the above it's best to leave one bathroom free for use while the other/s being renovated.
