- Was accredited by HIA-NKBA as a CKD Aus. in 1994. (see below: What is a CKD)
- Is a Gold member of the HIA (Housing Industry Association), since 1993.
- Is a member of the KBDI, (Kitchen & Bathroom Design Institute of Australia)
- Has served on the NKBA committee. (National Kitchen & Bathroom Association)
- Has judged in the annual HIA-NKBA Kitchen & Bathroom Awards.
- Has judged in the HIA annual Top Homes Awards.
- Has won Finalist several times in the annual HIA-NKBA Kitchen Bathroom Awards.
- Has worked with Knebel, Impala, Nouvelle, Brindabella Kitchens (& others) since 1983.
- Has created over 7,500 kitchen designs over the last 26 years.
- Has created many hundreds of bathroom designs over the last 15 years.
- Is currently undergoing accreditation as a CBD (Certified Bathroom Designer)
What is a CKD?
CKD, (Certified Kitchen Designer) is an internationally recognised accreditation for: “…special qualifications and having demonstrated knowledge and ability in the planning, design and supervision of complete kitchens...” The highest level of qualification in the industry.
A CKD is a professional, qualified by education and experience to design, plan and specify the installation of residential style kitchens. Technical knowledge includes new construction, together with light interior remodeling, and some plumbing and electrical expertise. A CKD has up to date knowledge of construction and use of cabinetry, bench tops, appliances, flooring, and all other components relevant to kitchen design.
This combination and specialisation of education in fundamental design, design analysis, space planning, colour co-ordination and the technical knowledge resulting from actual 'on the job' experience has developed a unique awareness in the Certified Designer towards both the client and the clients investment in the project.
A certified designer is required to carry out a program of Continuous Professional Development training (CPD) in order to receive an annual Certificate of Currency.
